Education Development Support Program (EDSPRO)

The Education Development Support Program (EDSPRO) is operated with the fund raised by SA from interested Nepalese people, foreign individual and like- minded organizations. Interested organizations can also make various initiatives to generate the fund for this program. EDSPRO fund is used for purchasing school uniform, stationery, and supplementary text books to the needy children who are being deprived of getting quality education due to their poor economic condition.

SA piloted this program from 1999-2003 at Golmatar village of Ramechhap district. A total of 82 Children in Golmatar were benefited from stationary, uniform and textbooks for four years through which they were able to attend the school with self-esteem and high level of motivation towards their education. It was further expanded in Khalechaur –7, Gaindakot VDC of Nawalparasi district covering 36 children particularly focusing to the disadvantaged and marginalized communities.  The community is expected to give the continuation of the program generating the fund from the local level. In Golmatar, the parents of these children began saving fund by their own initiation for their children’s education. Similarly, the EDSP had been continued in Khalechaur generating fund from the local level even after termination of SA’s funding after one year. At present, SA is providing its supports to two schools in Kathmandu: Ram Janaki school, at Nayapati village development committee and Ishori Lower Secondary School at Sundarijal village development Committee.
