1.  Volunteer Program

SA designed and implemented package volunteer programmers with a focus on volunteer recognition, facilitation, networking and promotion. SA believes that concept of volunteerism and its promotion is more relevant in the present context in order to enhance and strengthen networking opportunities among voluntary organizations, institutions and volunteers themselves. SA offers an opportunity to professionals and fresh graduates to go beyond the widespread perceptions about voluntary action just being supportive to provide social service. SA is a platform of national and international volunteers.

SA piloted National Volunteer Programme in five districts in the year 1996. As a result, SA has produced forty four development workers at the national level and forty four development workers at the local level. Similarly, the organization management capacity of forty two CSOs in twenty six different districts of Nepal has been enhanced by the year 2010. Most of the graduates are involved and contributing a lot in community development sector particularly in capacity enhancement. Further, these graduates have initiated a platform of volunteers named Volunteer Initiation for Social Equality (VOISE).

2.   Institutional Development Support Programme

Institutional Development Support Programme (IDSP) is one of the major programme of SA since its establishment. SA provides its resource persons in free of cost for trainings, workshops and field level technical support for institutional development of social development organizations or networks. Four hundred SDOs, more than 500 self help groups and more than 30 local government organizations (VDC, DDC) have directly befitted from this programme.

 

3.       Educational Development Support Programme

SA has been implementing the EDSPRO for children of disadvantaged people in remote areas. This program is being implemented by voluntary contribution of interested individuals and SA members. SA provides stationery, books, and dress to the disadvantaged and marginalized students.   It is managed by SA and implemented by the local organizations with the help of National Volunteers in order to ensure sustainability and active participation of the local community.  At present, SA is providing its supports to two schools in Kathmandu: Ram Janaki School, in Nayapati Village Development Committee and Ishori lower secondary school at Chilaune in Sundarijal.

4.       Lobby & Advocacy Program

 

SA involves in promoting people’s rights on access to resources and Information since 1992. It focuses on addressing the importance of information in promoting philosophy of rights based people centered development and strengthening civil society organizations. SA takes stand for the rights of deprive peoples to have access to participation in development activities and mainstreaming them in national development Endeavour. It supports civil societies to address contemporary issues such as: climate change; education (voters, consumer’s, education for labor organization) human rights, poverty reduction, social inclusion, etc. SAMUHIK ABHIYAN had participated in the forthcoming constituent assembly election’s monitoring and observation committee’s meeting, organized by NDI (National Democratic Institute) in Kathmandu. The meeting had appointed SAMUHIK ABHIYAN’s vice-chairperson, Mr. Shreya Prasad Kafle as a coordinator for the Kathmandu district.
